Short Description:

The Disaster Recovery (DR) Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, executing, and maturing the Judiciary’s enterprise-wide Disaster Recovery and IT Resiliency Program.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Coordination

  • Serve as the central point of contact for all DR activities across the Judiciary.
  • Coordinate and facilitate DR planning sessions, status meetings, and post exercise reviews.
  • Maintain alignment with Judiciary IT strategy, business continuity objectives, and evolving operational requirements.
Disaster Recovery Planning

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve a comprehensive Disaster Recovery & Resiliency Plan covering:
  • IBM mainframe environments (z/OS)
  • Linux
  • Windows/x86 and virtualized environments (VMware, cloud workloads)
  • Network, storage, and supporting infrastructure
  • -Ensure DR plans reflect accurate system inventories, recovery procedures, RTO/RPO requirements, dependencies, and data replication methods.
DR Testing & Validation

  • -Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute multiple DR tests annually (both full-scale and component-level exercises).
  • Collaborate with Recovery Point Systems to validate hot site readiness, replication integrity, and environment compatibility.
  • Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure test objectives, success criteria, and roles are clearly defined.
  • Document test results, identify remediation activities, and track corrective actions to completion.
Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work with development teams to ensure applications incorporate recovery readiness, proper failover procedures, and dependency documentation.
  • Partner with infrastructure teams to confirm systems, storage, and network configurations are test-ready and aligned with DR capabilities.
  • Communicate clearly with leadership on DR posture, gaps, risks, and progress metrics.
Vendor & Partner Management

  • Act as primary liaison with the DR vendor (Recovery Point Systems), ensuring:
  • Scheduling and logistics for DR tests
  • Timely communication of infrastructure changes
  • Coordination on replication, data synchronization, and recovery environment updates
  • Review and validate vendor delivered DR services and SLAs.
Documentation & Governance

  • Maintain all DR-related documentation in a standardized, version-controlled format.
  • Develop frameworks, templates, checklists, and procedures for DR activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Judiciary security, continuity, and contingency planning requirements.
  • Produce reports for audits, leadership updates, and external reviews.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify resiliency gaps and recommend system or process improvements.
  • Monitor changes in the production environment to ensure ongoing DR alignment.
  • Stay informed of DR industry best practices and emerging technologies.
 

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong experience in IT Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, or IT Resiliency roles.

Hands on understanding of:

  • IBM mainframe environments (z/OS, JCL, schedulers, storage replication)
  • Linux and Windows/x86 systems
  • Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware ESXi)
  • Cloud platforms (IaaS/PaaS)
  • SAN storage, networking, and data replication technologies
  • Prior experience coordinating DR exercises with third party recovery providers (Recovery ---Point experience preferred).
  • Excellent project management, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work across diverse technical teams and communicate effectively with technical and non technical audiences.

Flexible work from home options available.

Compensation: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour
